I am an Acute Care Surgeon. What does that mean? I am a Trauma Surgeon: I diagnose and treat victims of motor
vehicle collisions, gunshot wounds and other injuries. I am an Emergency Surgeon: I evaluate and operate on people with the "-itises" ie inflammations of the appendix, gallbladder and colon. I also treat
intestinal obstructions, hernias and bleeding ulcers. I am a Surgical Critical Care Doctor: I care for critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. I manage all body organ systems, from head (brain) to toe (circulation) and everything in between.
